Although the rally and subsequent attack on the Capitol have gotten the most attention, far worse was going on behind the scenes. The existence of the Eastman memo came to light with the release of Peril by Bob Woodward and Robert Costa. The memo lays out a six point plan for Pence to overturn the results of the election on January 6.

The indictment of the former president has renewed interest in the memo, as Eastman is believed to be one of the co-conspirators listed, but not named, in the 45 page indictment. According to speculation and reporting by CNN, Co-Conspirator 2 is said to be John Eastman.

“Co-Conspirator 2, an attorney who devised and attempted to implement a strategy to leverage the Vice President’s ceremonial role overseeing the certification proceeding to obstruct the certification of the presidential election.”

The memo was created by John Eastman, a close legal advisor to the former president…
