It’s About More Than an Election

Vote for Solutions, Not Slogans

The upcoming election is the subject of nonstop attention on cable news, talk radio, and social media. We should pay attention to what our representatives in Washington D.C. are doing all the time, not just in election years. Real change requires a movement to make the government work for the people and life a little easier for everyone. While politicians are fighting about who is better and why, and their followers are shredding each other on social media, real discussions are not being had about the things that matter.

Despite political slogans cribbed from past presidents and embroidered on hats, nothing will be made better in this country until we start looking beyond elections. What good does it serve to have one president work to enact legislation and executive orders that protect the environment only to have the next come along and wipe it all away? Back and forth we go, yet nothing changes or gets better in the long term. Look beyond the election because it is about more than an election.

It’s about democracy.

We need to face the fact that one presidential candidate has already tried to overturn an election he lost. He carried the lie so far that a mob…
