Elected Officials Abusing Power & Obstructing Justice
“What I fear most is power with impunity. I fear abuse of power, and the power to abuse.” ~ Isabel Allende
The GOP response to the former president facing 34 criminal charges stemming from his hush money payments has been threatening Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg. Their efforts have covered everything from trying to force his testimony and interfere with the prosecution to spreading lies on far right outlets and social media, which have resulted in multiple death threats.
Interfering with the Prosecution
The attacks and attempts at interference began even before the charges dropped. Although the former president wasn’t indicted until March 30, the GOP was attacking him weeks in advance.
In a letter sent to DA Bragg by the House Judiciary Committee on March 20, the committee demanded Bragg’s testimony and all “communications, documents, and testimony relating to Bragg’s unprecedented abuse of prosecutorial authority and the potential indictment of former President Donald Trump.”
